Wallpaper Tools
Wallpaper elegance is as much about its application as it’s about the wallpaper itself. To ensure a spotless application, and to let the design take centre stage, proper tools are important.
Basic tools for all wallpapers
-
Precision cutting knife – A wallpaper knife with a sharp blade for clean trimming.
-
Straight edge – For accurate cuts and refined edges.
-
Spirit level – To ensure the first panel is applied perfectly straight.
-
Smoother – To remove air pockets and ensure full wallpaper contact with the surface.
-
Tape measure – For accurate placement and measuring.
-
Pencil – For light markings and alignment guides.
-
Step stool or ladder – To reach the top of the wall.
The wallpaper decides the tools
The tools you need depend on which type of wallpaper you choose. For instance, Peel & Stick wallpapers attach to the surface immediately, whilst non-woven wallpapers require you to apply an adhesive by yourself. For non-woven wallpapers, you also need the following:
-
Wallpaper adhesive – Choose your adhesive specifically formulated for your wallpaper type.
-
Application brush or roller – For smooth and even distribution of the adhesive directly onto the wall.
-
Clean water, sponge or microfiber cloth – Gently remove any excess adhesive during application.
